The pack ring Bartholomew and leave a voice mail asking if he's ok. He rings back in a day or two and is a little bit "now what". They tell him about the council and he doesn't seem surprised. He is out travelling, a short trip for a couple of weeks. No, he won't tell them where. ("maybe Bartholomew gave us the sticks". "yes, he went into your room spinning and blowing air pretending to be a whirly whirly") ("Like scissoring but worse").
A few days later, above Marion's grave, one of the umbral statues appear. Her statue shows her defending a fallen figure. Lost Prophets wince at how it probably make Alex feel. They query Christine about it and get politely told to mind their own business.
The pack talk about what to do about Peter. The homids are all cool with the current situation, but Tillie is deeply suspicious and spends some time spying on him.
Two weeks later, Kasumi recieves a physical letter. Enthralled by the novelty, she takes a bit to open it. It is from Fujiko, the pack leader of the Ngalyod pack, and it is all written in japanese, and very formal. She and one other is invited to tea and baths in Fitzroy a week from now. Her and Tillie rvsp.
When they arrive, Fujiko appears to have booked out one section of the baths. She greets them, and things are very formal - tea, bathing, no speaking of consequential matters for some time. They talk about Japan and the flowers and the tea and of walruses and kings. After several hours, they are in the bath and Fujiko pours an oil across the water. The two Lost Prophets notice that things start to steam a lot more, and the water moves against their skin like something alive. The steam swirls oddly, and after a little bit of investigation, they realise that it is swirling based on things happening in the Umbra.
Fujiko speaks of the recent council meeting. She says that she has not been directed to speak to them of it. So unofficially, the Council was heavily split between people who thought heads should roll, and people who thought some leeway was in order, given the (semi)successful contact with the Bunyip. She says it was close, and it was split along ways that they might not expect. In the future, a different group might become dominant.
However, what Fujiko asks is that as much as the council seems divisive and ineffectual, they do some good in maintaining peace across the tribes. At the same time, people have noticed the sudden rise of Lost Prophets, and may wish to emulate them. If Lost Prophets decide to disregard their directive to not investigate the bunyip independantly, others will notice and it will damage the ability of the council to enact any useful actions. Tillie echos Inanna and says that they will take that into consideration.
