Wyrm is all that is bad and wrong, Weaver is stasis and order out of control, Wyld is retreating.
Starting from the top down.... maybe
The Earth Mother uberspirit within which all living things reside is called Gaia by the garou. She is the greatest of a class of spirits referred to as Celestines, which includes the sun and Mother Luna, the spiritual mother of the werewolves. The correct phrasing is "we fight for Gaia." Forgetting the "for" is a common faux pas :)
The universe is made of three primal urges/natures (The Triad). Wyld, which is chaos and change, Weaver, which is order and stasis, and Wyrm, which was once balance.
Legends are mixed as to exactly what happened, but in the here and now, the Wyrm is now corruption and destruction. You mostly fight against the Wyrm. The Weaver has also gone insane, and is attempting to wrap the world in perfect stasis. The Wyld appears to be in retreat.
Many garou envision these urges as actual beings (probably to make it easier to fight them), but others suggest that they are better envisioned as forces within the universe that have gone wrong, and the problem needs to be addressed by changing the balance of forces. This makes it harder to just punch on them until everything is better, so its not as popular a concept, but one that is common amongst the stargazers - and as they make up a chunk of your sept, its a point of view that you will have been exposed to.
There are spirits that partake heavily of one member of the triad - wyrm spirits, wyld spirits, weaver spirits. Punching on Wyrm spirits is a popular pasttime because they are awful.
What is more important/came first is an argument that has been going since Garou learnt about banging rocks together. Gaia may have made the Triad, the Triad may have generated Gaia. But if the balance between the forces gets totally out of whack, then apocalypse, end of Gaia, end of everything.
