Chronicle of the Sept of Sleeping Lore

Chronology

Finn - interlude Aug 2010 - Aug 2011

Finn spends a chunk of his time over the next year looking for potential Wyrm beasts sealed away in paintings at Scars Atoning. Mostly it involves crawling through endless caves, looking for shapes and specific figures in the dark with a torch. He finds that some of the paintings descend into the ground, suggesting that different caves have been open at different times. Sept Elders ask that for the moment, he leaves them alone - they have more than enough to look at that are exposed for the moment.

Late in 2010....

Finn is at Rippling Waters and enquires of the caern elders about learning the gift Luck of the Irish. They suggest that it is usually taught by faeries.

He is invited to the big Summer Solstice moot on December 21. Its a big event, with Fianna from all over the protectorate coming to Rippling Waters, and a large festival held south of Koroit, vaguely overlooking the caern at Tower Hill. People, human, garou and kinfolk are everywhere having a very up time. There is musics, food and drink flowing freely. Not long after dark, (about 930 at this time of year), the Garou fade away to the caern to start their Moot in the Umbra.

The Moot is a summer solstice Moot, but the Fianna traditions come from the Northern hemisphere, and December is Winter. Finn notices that while most of the garou are doing summery things, the occasional one is dealing with a spirit that has a traditional link to the year and is doing something wintery. Its a bit like rubbing stomach and patting head.

During the Moot, it becomes clear that there are little creatures around - a mix of people, animals and a mix of both. Some of them glow, all of them are running around like idiots. They are apparently the "low fae" and they seem child-like in behaviour. They are gnomes and salamanders and sprites and such. They can talk. They don't shut up.

Leaps-in-the-Light turns up, clearly tripping balls. He says that if Finn wants to learn this gift, he should try and get a low fae to trade him for it. He suggests that Finn should have a gift to give them in exchange. He also suggests that walking on two legs is hard, and walks off oddly.

Finn thinks about it and plays something traditional, but with a faerie light show as well. He attracts an audience to his mandolin playing and lights, some of which are more interested in trying to eat the lights. One, however, lingers - a hairy man, about 2.5 feet high, with green hair hanging down almost like a grass wookie When Finn finishes, he demands another song. His name is apparently Bill. They bargain a bit and then Finn agrees to play again if Bill thinks about teaching him the Gift. Bill defends Finn against a sort of frog/horse thing that tries to steal the mandolin, and at the end of it seems pretty happy. He'll definitely teach Finn a trick. In exchange for some of Finn's luck. For tonight. And coming for a walk. No he won't take all of it, then Finn would die. Just for tonight. They need to find a guy. And then he'll teach Finn the trick. Finn bargains to learn the trick first, and Bill is persuaded.

Bill shows Finn the trick. He doesn't get it. Bill frowns and rearranges the thing he is doing and says how about now? Ah, that makes sense - Bill hands him a something woven out of light and suddenly Finn knows the trick. Its a very different thing to how Gifts from spirits are taught.

The marks on Finn's back start to burn cold, as if they had an excess of dencorub on them. Finn turns around and asks Bill if he knows what did this? Claws, clearly. Ah. Come on, we have to find Joe.

Bill leads Finn to the other side of things, and steps into the Realm. Bill does this by lifting his foot up and sort of stepping without looking, no mirrors involved at all. They talk about how it works, with Finn complimenting Bill on his style.

They head off to find Joe. Bill walks acrosss the water, making Finn wade through the squelchy mud. The next couple of hours is spent with Finn finding a guy called Joe, who is leaving the festival. Joe is really drunk, and has no idea where he was going. In the next few hours, Joe is nearly hit by a truck, but luckily it misses and the driver yells at Finn because he was there too. A possum poos on Finn's head. He steps on a rusty nail. Joe blunders around in complete safely as he uses up all Finn's luck for the night. A sign falls off a shop and hits Finn in the head. They make it to Joe's house, and unlock the door (instead of the hinge that Joe was trying to unlock). Joe passes out eventually. Bill shows up and agrees that the deal has been met, and he vanishes.

Finn - November 2011 - Adren challenge

are there any specific points you wanna touch on for your letter - what are you actually asking for, info or ?

Richard Ross As for the letter, I want to be curtious, but forthright. Want to convey an appropriate level of deference for someone of her station and the magnitude of the request. While I am making this request to fulfill a spirit bargain, assuming that our trip to the Underworld is known, I'd like to put together some stories to help her remember who she was prior to her corruption, should she come back.

Richard Ross Would help to round out a potential future 'greater redemption story'

eccles so you're looking for information about Brenna, or at least information about information about Brenna

Richard Ross Probably also touch on that I'm looking for a story of 'when she was Honorable, when she was wise, and when she was glorious

Richard Ross Yes, or failing that, further leads to where I might discover that information. Richard Ross "Any assistance that can be provided would be immensely appreciated" etc.

eccles Ok, what you get back is basically "Her old sept is near Jurien Bay, in Western Australia. They would be the best people to ask".

Richard Ross Cool, I politely thank her for her time and information, and begin to go through proper channels to make contact either with that sept, or nearby ones

eccles There are no 'proper channels' is the problem. Usually septs are very seperate and insular - visitors from other septs in the same tribe/protectorate happen, but not so much cross those lines. The information about where was really inspecific - it wasn't "go here say hi" it was literally "near Jurien Bay". You're going to have to approach this in your own way

Richard Ross Alrighty, well I guess during down time, I'm gonna have to take a trip Richard Ross I wasn't sure if like the Master who looks after the moon-bridge was the person who kinda put the word out for making contact between septs. Richard Ross Which I guess may be true on a local level, but wasn't sure if it extended nationally. But as you say, if they're isolationist, it doesn't really matter

eccles the level of communication between the septs around Melburne is very unusual. Everyone is isolationist :) The less other garou know about your sept, the less likely they can successfully attack it.

Richard Ross My damn inner city privilage Richard Ross Jeez no wonder we're losing this whole apocalypse thing

eccles The Moonbridge is used mostly intratribally - so going to other BG or SG septs, or from Jindabyne council The interaction with the Fianna is currently good so that is also a thing But outside of that... not so much

Richard Ross Get your shit together people

eccles heheh

Richard Ross I know we're also unusual, not being a mono-tribe sept Richard Ross I imagine the more 'pure' a sept, the more people fall into stereotypes

eccles yep yep, no prompts to do or think otherwise. eccles But its come up in game that this goodwill and communication is in part through the efforts of Cossack eccles https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/Jurien+Bay+WA+6516/@-30.7605539,114.9211338,463468m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x2bd190b6f1378ceb:0x400f6382479e450!8m2!3d-30.297!4d115.042

Richard Ross I know we're not randomly meant to moon bridge to places, and it's possible we've talked about this before, but am I able to moon bridge to WA, or take a shortcut through the Umbra? Or will I have to drive/train/fly (Finn does not have money to fly) Richard Ross I know Will couldn't do that to Ireland due to distance, but was kinda hoping since it's the same country...

eccles its not unfeasable, but you'd have to find/contact a friendly sept to moonbridge. Theoretically you could shortcut through the Umbra....

Richard Ross Don't suppose there's any Fianna septs in WA?

eccles You're going to be going theurge/philodox moon, so its not a totally disasterous idea :) you'd need to work out how you wanna do that... there'd need to be some ppoint of contact tho, some common concept/spiritual idea that you can travel fro melbourne to, and then back to WA. Hard. Not that you know of - western Victoria and around the Newcasle, NSW area are the Fianna lands

Richard Ross Or BG

eccles There might be a BG sept in Perth, or Fremantle...

Richard Ross I don't suppose by virtues of them both being 'bay's that Port Phillip could connected to Jiren (probably not going to be that easy... :p) Richard Ross Hmm Might talk to Cossack about potential BG septs in Perth. Even getting that close would be beneficial.'

eccles Train might be your best bet if Tillie won't let you borrow the murder van :) eccles or have some of the last of the baby money

Richard Ross Oigh 3 days on a train Richard Ross Well 2 and a half Richard Ross still That's an option, but it doesn't seem like much on an adventure to take the train.

eccles you mightn't be back for the moot if you take that long.

Richard Ross Yeah true, umbra shortcuts/moon bridge it is or getting money from somewhere for a plane ticket I hope that W Rose actually have me the name of Brennas old sept Or I can get that from Tillie eccles nope! "near Jurien Bay" She didn’t know or she’s being difficult Tillie doesn't know it. ? See "insular" - giving you a rough location is probably a fair concession. vs "I'll get them to call you"

Richard Ross Fair enough

eccles WRose has said that she's more a representative than a leader - each sept follows its own path ugh there's pdfs online of RaA, but not of the map. IIRC you're looking at BF, Uktena and GW in Perth proper. at a gross level. There might be a BG sept there. Butttttt, that won't come for free. Its only a 37hr drive :) Too far to moonbridge directly from sleeping lore mjor outcome of my timeline stuff up is that you've got less time to get to WA & back before the moot. You don't really have time to drive or hitchhike. on the plus side, you're doing it in the galliard moon? symbolically at least

Richard Ross Well it looks like I'm going solo now, so we could probably do most of this offline if you wanted to skip ahead a bit

eccles ( I guess you could drive it, but if you want to be back by thu night, it'll be tight). Hmmm, maybe we could get going before people really show up wed? hard to do online.

RR Nah I'm pretty sure Tillie was willin' to give me some baby money to fly

eccles assuming you fly, then what?

RR Well since I'll be in someone elses territory, if I can locate the major sept in Perth I'll go present myself. Don't want a repeat of Sydney and someone like Mother Pasta getting bent out of shape. Could also potentially help me narrow down where this sept is 'near Jurien Bay' Then I'm hoping that I will have been able to secure enough funds to either get a hire car, or get on a bus (I assume there's some kind of PT), to take me up to Jurien Bay. Depending on whether or not people in Perth are helpful/have information they're willing to part with, will determine how I approach the Jurien crew

eccles heh, usually only a problem if you're going to summon Bunyip or Uktena

RR Haha Wasn't sure of protocol, and I'd probably prefer to err of the side of etiquette/good manners Like I don't want to go in guarded, as if I'm expecting the reception to be 'hostile'. But I'm probably expecting at best 'stand-offish' or a cold reception

eccles Polite tho, to say "hey" on the way past. Perth has a strong glasswalker presence, and it turns out to be easiest for Kasumi to email them before you go. Their first response to "I'm going to pass through is " "ok" and "do you know anything about Jurien Bay sept" is "requests for knowledge will incur a fee"

RR I am willing to exchange stories from 'back east' if they're interested in such things.

eccles Theres PT from Perth to Jurien Bay, but its a 4 hour trip (vs 2 hr drive) They are willing to trade a detailed verbal recount of events from initial contact with Cernonous to his death in return for unprotected information regarding the Black Fury sept near Jurien bay.

RR Hmmm I have legitimately just checked chron, but I want to confirm. Are we under any prohibition from telling that story from the council/is it a widely known story around Melbourne? (Basically I'm usually pretty free to tell whatever stories, but if it's going to piss off the council, then I won't)

eccles No, and you've certainly told people the story itself. But 'detailed recount' suggests maybe they aren't looking for a story version. At the time, Cernonous wanted you to keep it on the QT, but you've told the whole thing since

RR Well I could give them an embellished account of those events. But I'd like to think that Finn doesn't take too many liberties when converting things to 'story' mode, unless he's specifically trying to down-play a part (like say, Tillie getting stuck in the floor). I'll run this by the pack first. (presuming that this information would have been worked out before I flew over) By which I mean, the price agreed upon

eccles Um, its more that you tell a story in a particular way - not so much embellishing it, as making it easy to remember - to help people remember the details and pass it on. Yeah, you'll have a couple hours between deciding to go and being able to get on a plane And that story form is not always like a 100% "and then this happened and he was wearing a jumper and"

RR Oh for sure Also I'm not sure how much is 'public record' since we gave an unabridged and unembellished account to the Council

eccles No one has said "don't" but their focus was mostly on the actual events in Sydney - the stuff before that was perhaps not the focus of attention beyond the basics?

RR I'd be tempted, even though I'm not recounting it as a story, to almost frame it as a cautionary tale (looking at my responses to the questioning). Just in case the Glass Walkers get it into their heads to try and repeat the experiment

eccles :-) Its unclear what the aim is, yes.

RR Alright I think I'll be happy to do that, but I'm giving the account in person, not over email. Maintain that I don't think such experiments are a good idea, and that the council takes a dim view of it (at lest without their consent).

eccles They give you an address to get to in Perth not far from the airport. Where you'll be met and interviewed.

RR Cool

eccles mental link does not work to perth fwiw - you're on your own when you get there

RR Lol yes I assumed

eccles I reckon Finn was on an early flight to perth on the saturday? (day after getting response, gives tme to contact the GW) so you show up at 930, takes about 30m to get out of the airport. getting rental car y/n?

RR Yeah

eccles when y ou get to the office in perth, a woman is there to meet you. she introduces herself as Clair Bointreau, a rank 3 galliard of the Glass walkers and a sept elder of singing sands. She's got some recording equipment set up to record ot a laptop and a contract for you to sign. basically it says that you agree that the information that you are receiving is for your pack only and not to be distributed further without explicit agreement from singing sands.

RR I will take the time to read over the contract before signing, making sure there isn't anything hiding in the fine print.

eccles Ok, there's nothing there about first born and nothing there about condsequences, just "you are agreeing to" And its in exchange for a detailed account of the events from meeting Cernonous to discuss the bunyip until the night of his death, including relevant questioning as part of the interview, they will pass to you unprotected information on the Sept near Jurien bay The caveat is that you will not pass that information on outside of the current members of your existing pack. In the case that your pack disbands, then that information must not be distributed to other garou at all. (without explicit approval from the sept at singing sandds)

RR Can I add a similar clause that they will keep the detailed account to their pack? With the exception of commonly known information?

eccles No. (like, that's all you get in response to your question, not me going NO :))

RR "Fair enough, honestly just wanted to see if I could. *smile*"

eccles Do you accept the terms? (the office is super generic and smells like it spends a lot of time closed up)

RR Just to clarify to you D, the council initially didn't want us digging further into the bunyip. There was no gag order yeah? I know we since challenged so that we could do it, so long as we check in from time to time

eccles Nnno. "When pushing the limits of something, one must accept the consequences of ones actions. The council is not prepared at this point to punish Lost Prophets for any of the matter ("woo hoo!" "Roll willpower"). However, all future interactions with the Bunyip must be investigated only with the constent and supervision of the Council. Mother Pasta stares daggers at the pack all through this." that was the original bit nothing about gag order mostly it was cernonous asking you to keep it on the QT

RR Yeah and now he's dead

eccles yy

RR Ok yeah I agree

eccles neat she gets you to sign it, and then she signs it too

RR Of course, I will still try to shape the retelling. Like I'll give them the information in detail, but I'll emphasize the parts that Finn was concerned about.

eccles She lets you run through at your own pace while making notes then asks questions You get the feeling she is getting some information on the laptop from other people too but you canr see the screen

RR Seems reasonable, Finn is a fairly modern kid. Probably assumes she has them on MSN Messenger or something

eccles The q about cloning are only ''did he explain thr process in any further detail''

RR (I know that's likely out of date, but it's funnier if Finn geniunely still believes that)

eccles :-):-)

RR "No, and honestly I lack the scientific background to fully understand that part of the process."

eccles You get more detailed questions about bartholomew. About the lightning man. About will and lise's interactions and the nexus crawler About menindee and jacky geckos presence The questions are mostly about details of wvents. Theres no q about speculation or opinion.

RR No worries, if probed, I wouldn't go into any of will & lise's history, outside of what is pertinent to the events. I mean in general, that's kind of his approach. I'll tell them what happened, but no extra background that isn't necessary

eccles Yeah its weirdly specific on things actually said but no questions about previous context all up it goes for about 4 hours - the clock says 2pm but your stomach says 4pm (your initial story probably takes nearly 2 hours, it was ~ a month of busy-ness)

eccles This is the info you get back from the GW: 1) partial transcript from an interview, talking about meeting the Sept Leader Christina Merakis 2) several pamphlets about a "no domestic violence tolerated at Jurien Bay" program. 3) information about the area including several sites regarded as sacred sites, and efforts rerouting road plans away from them. seems to be an analysis of garou influence on local council rather than interact with primary sources. 4) some typed information (literally typed) on old paper speculating that the caern is actually near the shore north of Jurien bay but south of Green heade. Sept activities believed to cover area from Cooljarloo to Arrowsmith and as far inland as Carnamah.

RR [Grab a car, and head north to around the area. Go into the Umbra and howl ]

WOLFIE (so I can find it later). Town is pretty quiet - there's some tourists around but its really a summer holiday town. Scoping around a bit, there's no one obviously with 'kinfolk' stamped on their head, so its probably plan B - to the Umbra. Around town the umbra is what you'd epect - weaver/wyrm and sandy/dusty. But not far out, it changes from that to a hillier landscape with salt water estuaries between them.

RR I guess if nothing appears to jump out, or give a clear indication of werewolf activity, I'll put out a call. Formal introduction, requesting permission to be here etc. Again trying to keep everything as polite and as formal as I can. Don't wanna piss anyone off any more than they already are.

DM any particular vantage point to do so from? in town, out of town, up a bit high? Call of the Wyld too?

RR Probably up in the hills a bit, towards the estuaries. Yeah probably using Call of the Wyld. In case they're not terribly near by. If there's a particularly nice meditative spot, I'll probably choose there In case I've got to wait a while

DM ok, once you get past the estuaries a bit, the landscape rises onto some flats, and the number of trees drops off again and there's low bushes and grass. you can find a lowish hill and from the top you can look over landscape around you, and also makes you visible to anyone searching

RR Sounds like a good spot. I'll probably sit in such a way that I can still see over the landscape, but I'm a little low to the ground. Just in case something nefarious comes along. But if I see someone who looks like they could be a werewolf, then I'll stand back up. Like not, actively, trying to be stealthy. Just sittin'

DM ok, after a couple hours, you spot a homid and lupus moving through the brush to the north - they're clearly sneaking/scouting but don't seem to be aware of you. maybe 300-500 metres away, so its hard to make out much detail about them.

RR Ok I'll stand back up so they can spot me, but I'll let them come towards me.

DM They don't seem to respond really - they're kind of creeping southeasterly while you're directly south.

RR Hmm well I guess I can make my way towards them. If I'm getting kinda close and they still haven't spotted me, I'll call out. But otherwise, just kinda make it look like I'm just hiking through the area.

DM (In the umbra :-)...)

RR Of course

DM "I'm just hiking through" makes it sound like you were trying to be casual about it :) just checking you remembered you wouldn't be mistaken for just a guy

RR Yeah just tryin' to be casual

DM are you happy for me to be relatively narrative about bits of this? (specifically about bits that would be dice intensive if we were doing it otherwise)

RR Yep that's fine

DM ok, head down the hill toward these two figures. It gets hard to see exactly where they are because you lose the vantage point. You get glimpses of them, enough to keep adjusting your path but you have to keep an eye out About half way down the hill, it goes all Jurassic Park. While your attention is focussed forward, you're attacked from behind.

RR Ahh balls By claw or fist?

DM Hammer.

RR worse!

DM Three garou (all women) attack you, but they don't use claws/teeth.

RR Well I (assuming I don't get knocked out immediately) swear, protect the head, and try and figure out what's hitting me.

DM One of them is wielding a sledge hammer in crinos, and its pretty smashy.

RR Shit, assuming I don't immediately rage out, I'll try and throw up hands and talk to them.

DM You manage to not rage out but it take s abit of willpower. Unfortunately they don't seem to be interested in chatting

RR Well I'm clearly out numbered I guess I'll show my neck? Or at least the homid equivalent Which I guess is just surrendering

DM Holding hands up and saying "Wait!" ?

RR "Wait wait, I didn't come here to fight, I came to talk!"

DM *THUMP*

RR whelp (honestly I thought that might happen, even if it was a "we can't show you where our sept is")

DM yeah, people are pretty cautious about that sort of thing.

RR Yeah I was thinking this might be the werewolf equivalent of 'black bagging' someone

DM with the exciting possibility of them Frenzying and killing everyone

RR Oooh yeah

DM [WOLFIE] Sound of water lapping. Smell of salt water and mud. A light breeze. Everything hurts. Your head is pounding and feels weird. Its hard to open your eyes and when you manage it, one of them is blurry. You're in the Umbra, laying head first down a shallow slope near one of the same estuaries you saw recently

RR As I come into consciousness, I groan and mutter something along the lines of "While I've woken up with worse hang overs, they're typically not delivered by a hammer to my skull...."

DM "Who are you, Fianna pup?" - the voice is female, and accented.

RR "and a good morning to you to! *grin* Ow... I'm Finn McKenzie, Fostern Galliard of The Lost Prophets pack" Well probably afternoon, but I don't know how long I've been out

DM Why are you here, pup? (your voice sounds a bit weird, and its hard to breathe in and talk loudly - pretty sure you've got broken ribs too)

RR "I was hoping to make contact with the Black Furies sept of Jurien Bay. If I'm in the wrong place, I'm happy to be escorted out of your territory. Not my intention to step on any toes." "May I know ... - sharp intake of breath- to whom I am speaking?"

DM You hear someone crunch on the ground (maybe jumped down?) and walk around into field of vision. Its hard to see detail, but its a woman, dark hair. "you can call me Elena. you are no longer in anyone's territory - or at you won't be if you wriggle down into the water. Why do you think they would want to speak to you?"

RR (I am actually being sincere, I smile through bloodied and possibly cracked teeth) "I'm glad to meet you Elena. Honestly they may not want to, but I was hoping for an exchange of information, regarding a former member of their sept." "I have an obligation I need to fulfil and I'd be extremely grateful if they could help me fulfil it."

DM "This is land of the Furies. You are a man. Are you just pismataris? A bullish man? They have no reason to want to talk to you"

RR "Aye I understand that this would possibly be a hurdle. But are you telling me the fate of one of their lost sisters would be of no interest? That one of Gaia's Daughters may return to the fold after wandering so long in the dark? (Finn's language gets a little more hammy when he's annoyed)

DM "You should have sent a messenger rather than intruding. What is your obligation in this? (You're having trouble with enunciation - 3 sentances in a row and things start to twinge and you run out of breath)

RR I'll still try to grit through it, speaking slower if it helps. I suspect they wouldn't take kindly to weakness

DM "I did attempt to contact them/you via a third party, however you're notoriously difficult to track down, as is your want and right. *exhales to calm self* I'll be frank, as part of the rites for Adren, I'm required to gather three stories with regards to this sept member to help redeem her memory. One of Glory, One of Honor, and One of Wisdom." “I’m happy to meet with a lore master, or knowledgeable Galliard, in a more neutral location if that is more suitable.”

DM WOLFIE: She laughs. "Does your Mother of Challenges hate you? Or did you simply try to claim the rank of Adren before you were ready? You do not speak of galliard to me!"

RR [OOC: Just having a bit of trouble finding it in the chron. Who issued me the challenge? Was it Ian?]

DM Ìan is the MoC but you've seen all the Elders talking when someone challenges for rank. So its not just Ian but its prb a large chunk him

RR I don't believe my *master* of challenge bares me any ill will, but deemed this to be an appropriate challenge and as such will determine if my claim in premature. Furthermore I think my claims to auspice are clear, who are you to refute it Elena? Do you speak as Galliard for your pack?

DM You try to move, and find that you can't manage it. Limbs are broken still and muscle tissue torn. Half way through trying to say your claim to auspice is clear, you run out of breath. You're in homid, which heals real slow. So, just change form and... um.. and.... ... and.... its like a sneeze that keeps evading you, you can't seem to get it happening...

RR “What... did... you.. do.. to.. me”

DM There's the sound of footsteps coming around. A figure appears and crouches down - its hard to get a clear look at her because of your wounds. "The Furies understand change in ways you will never grasp. You are just being reminded of that - another lesson in humility for you"

RR “Well.... consider me... humbled” "I can... see *cough*.. where my... pack leader *hack*... gets it."

DM "Ha. She is not a Fury, she would not have let you make such an approach here and reflect upon her. Unless she hates you too?"

RR "Maybe... not. But maybe... spark... remains. Similar... methods." *grins* "I... don't think... she hates me. Not.. always happy.. but not hate." "Perhaps... direct approach... ill-advised, Thought... *hack* being respectful. Sorry."

DM Laughter. "This is your direct approach? To creep in, head low, and beg to be given? How did ever become a fostern, Fianna pup?"

RR "Heh... usually can talk better

DM "Fianna talk talk talk, yes I remember. I like you better like this, where you have to spend your words carefully"

RR "I can.. also see.. why the Night Queen... latched on to Brenna. Force... of nature. But... fae are tricky... best of times" "You seem... to be concerned... with hate? I had hoped... the reputation... was exaggerated. Much like... Fianna... and drink"

DM "pah. I am simply at a loss as to why they accepted your challenge and then set you this task. Have you the respect of homid garou? Have you the respect of the Fianna? You clearly do not understand what it is to be galliard"

RR "Perhaps... I focus too much, on new history and entertainment... instead of the old ways." "If.. I had learned... the traditions and history of your tribe... I would have known better." "Thank you... for this lesson" OOC: Obviously intending surface level stuff. Not meaning to imply snooping into their business "I realise now... that coming here, in the manner that I did... was highly inappropriate." "Is there... a way that... I can earn your respect? Or atone... for this transgression?"

DM "is this how you would approach other garou?"

RR "No... would call ahead... in some fashion. Couldn't find... a way to do so here. So tried to come to... edge of territory.. call from there." "As mentioned earlier... you're hard to find. Had hoped.. this would be least intrusive.. given circumstances."

DM "Why would they listen?"

RR "Perhaps an incorrect assumption.... thought that given isolation... they'd at least like to catch up on news. It's part of... what Galliard do." "But I see now... that an envoy... should have been sought. Shouldn't... have come... myself. At least... not intially." "Maybe should have asked for word to be sent ahead."

DM "Are you sure you are a galliard? You worry about talk talk talk like a philodox. Is this why the fianna recognise you as fostern, because you talk?" "News, stories... these are things for the campfire. These are not actings."

RR "Is it... passion... you want to see?

DM "Of course! "What is a galliard but a stirrer of hearts?" Ragabash see. Theurge think. Philodox speak. A galliard is not just a philodox with a voice. How can you wish to be adren and not know this?

RR "Oh I know these things. I have roused my pack to battle *spits*. I have soothed their rage and frenzy with song. I have encouraged spirits to follow us into the depths of The Scar." *breathes heavily* "but if you want passion and rage I. CAN. SHOW.YOU."` *out of breath* But I figured one more ragey male, was the wrong approach.

DM "ha, there is no point showing me, I have no more heart to be set on fire. But the Furies - how will they know you will fight with them if you will not fight with them?"

RR "I can fight and will fight... if it's a fight they want. Though we all fight, strength is the Ahroun way." "Though being between Arhoun and Philodox, it is reasonable that Galliards have strength, and talk."

[you are healing, its just slow, just like normal homid-form garou speed. About 1 arbitrary-measure-of-damage an hour] DM "Philodox talk. Galliards show. What have you done, pup, to be fostern? show me how you grabbed your pack's hearts and led them to the fight"

OC: Sorry thinking. Probably one of those things that Finn can do, but I'm having trouble coming up with something :) can be a dice roll(Tm) - just pick, i dunno, three times you did something along those lines that you think are worth mentioning

RR Wulfie: *pauses for what feels like two weeks* While I have supported my pack with song , I have not led them to battle with my passion. Perhaps I am not ready for Arden until I have fully explored this aspect of Galliard.

DM Songs and howls can be breath upon the fire. You have the passion, I see it. But you do not let it shine. You do not value it. ... your pack leader, what was the last thing she said to you ?

RR "That you may not be happy to see me. Oh and she wished me luck."

DM A word of caution? Does she smother you, Fianna pup?

RR The tone was more sarcastic. Like she knew the trouble I'd get into, but let me go anyway. My lessons are my own to learn

Then yes, you should go, and learn more of your blessing from Luna. I suggest you do not return until you understand how to grab the hearts of the Furies and make them want to listen to your words. [you hear footsteps and she moves between you and the moonlight] Challenge them to dare to listen to you. Reach down and grab them by the fur, and pull them to where they should be. [There's something odd about the way she looks, even through your damaged eyesight]

"I won't give this challenge up completely. We'll meet again Elena, when I better embody Galliard."

She bends down close to you. The moonlight behaves oddly around her and you realise she's a spirit, not a garou.

"Perhaps, Fianna. If you interest me."

"You interest me to, spirit."

Footsteps walk away and then fade out :) two? I shift into the best form to heal up the rest of the way. Then begin to head back to the car.

You still can't shift form... :) It takes a couple of hours before you heal enough to be able to move around. The car is in town, so it might be easier to get your bearings and all in the realm, but at the same time you probably dont want to be hauling your beaten arse through there in case someone sees you so, peek & walk and hope or better plan?

I was sorta meaning, heal up to being able to move properly, then probably shift to lupus or hispo (whichever is the fast moving form) to get back to the 'realm equivalent of town'. Then shift back to homid, peak and try and find a safe spot to shift. Close as I can get to the car, though if I parked in an exposed area, I'll try and find somewhere safe and sensible to step.

ok it takes a while, but nothing untoward happens in that time. Eventually whatever they did dissapates and you're able to form change and heal up to ok. Probably wanna find somewhere to either buy a towel or wash off, or you're going to leave blood in the rental car, but that's not too hard either.

It's kind of a beachy area yeah? If there's some of those beach-showers around, I'll dunk under one of those public beach shower. Sometimes there's like toilet blocks, that also have a shower in them near beaches (I'm basing what I know off Warrnambool, so not sure if that's a common thing or not).
